Currently, I'm an undergraduate student studying Human Development and Family Studies, Spanish, and Women's Studies, and prepping to graduate in May 2010. The plan is to get a job, make a few dollars, and function as an adult in this big bad world. I'm working on making the jump out of college and into a different reality where I pay more bills and get less recognition.
My initial purpose for this blog is, in fact, a senior seminar project for Women's Studies. So, expect plenty of social commentary, feminism, humanist nods, and a lot of venting and anger. Also, cross your fingers for a high dose of humanity (when I can muster it), hopefully some humor, and perhaps a touch of real knowledge and practical thoughts. I would like to keep this winner going into the future so as to become a fixture (albeit a small one) in the giant blogging world, but that will depend on my dedication and my ability to have any focus at all for my writings.
As a note, the title of blog is a phrase taken from a quote by Evelyn Cunningham that says, "Women are the only oppressed group in our society that lives in intimate association with their oppressors." I love this quote, and I also appreciate that there are reasons for this and ways to take this apart a little bit (save that for another day).
I'm new to the blogging world and thus have no clue what I'm doing. That is all.
My thoughts on the world, feminism, and whatever else I feel like spilling into the infinite internet abyss.
